Our new borehole!!!

On the 21st of July a drilling rig came to our plot.

They started by clearing the area where they were going to drill (by the way, the spot was found using a coconut's hair!!)

They started by taking all the drill stems off the rig.

They got the drill head on  the first stem.

Getting ready to start.

Starting to drill!

At first the cloud of dust was very red because of the soil. Then at 7m they hit rock which gave out a huge cloud of powdery white dust!

We would sometimes be totally unable to see anything because of the dust!

Adding another drilling stem. They used 13 of them which each measured 4.65m

Everytime they added another drilling stem they would take a sample of what had come out. You can se how it started on the right and then gradually changed as they were going deeper!

You can see the blue pipes which were used for the casing of the borehole.

Then finally at 55m we hit water!!!!
There was much excitement as we watched it gush out!

I think everyone was starting to wonder if we'd ever reach water! Apparently the guys said they rarely go beyond 40m!

The guy in charge said that we seemed to have hit a very good water supply and that we could even do agriculture with our water supply!

There was quite a river after a bit...

Getting the casing ready to go in the hole.

There were many onlookers!

We spent the whole day just watching! It was rather interesting and exciting!

And here we are! Our very own borehole!!! Yikes!

It ended up being a total of 60m deep as they wanted to go deeper than where they hit water!!!!!

They then proceeded to put a compressor pipe inside to clean the water.

After nearly two hours they gave up as the water was still coming out an orangy,  red colour! They said we would need to pump the water out for 48 hours rather than blow air down the hole!

They sealed the pipe with gravel and ciment.

It was a very blessed day altogether and we are so grateful to God for providing for a borehole! All we need now is a pump to be able to taste this endless supply of water beneath us!
